Facebook Inc. is building a smartwatch with cellular connectivity that will let wearers send messages using Facebook’s services and offer health and fitness features. The social media giant hopes to start selling the device in 2022.
The social network has expanded into consumer hardware sales in recent years, introducing the virtual reality headset Oculus and video calling devices for the home. But now the company will enter into the smartwatch market currently dominated by companies like Apple, Huawei and Fitbit.
It is unclear how much it will cost, but it would be a good chance compared to the Apple Watch, which is priced at $399 for the Apple Watch Series 6.
